Cantilever Fitting Guidelines
The cantilever gate system is a system to can carry a sliding gate without having wheels on track in the opening passage. For a cantilever to work effectively, the overall length of the gate needs to be at least 1.5 times the length of the opening. Always use plenty of guide rollers, ensure the gate is supported with rollers at the open position.
A cantilever solution consists of 2 trolleys – 1 guide (rail) – 1 final wheel – 1 stopper and other accessories such as rollers to install the sliding gate as shown in our catalogue pictures.
Important for the Installation
- The foundations set in reinforced concrete must have the minimum sizes and weight listed in the table below for each model.
- The gate must not exceed the maximum weight and opening length specified for the model in use. The gate must be rigid and stiff by itself to avoid deformation, flexing or bending of the gate itself when moving. The bottom guide (rail) is supposed only to guide the gate, and has to be fixed properly to the gate. It’s very important that the guide (rail) is welded in a proper way, straight and avoiding deformations due to the welding process. Special attention must be paid when joining 2 or more pieces of guide (rail).
- The distance between two trolleys must be at least 1/3 of the gate opening. (R2 = 1/3 R1 as shown in the diagrams).
- We suggest the use of upper nylon rollers to stabilize the gate through opening/closing.
- We strongly recommend that the gate must slide between 2 poles to ensure safety against any accident or accidental fall or breakage.
- All the sliding and rolling parts must be regularly inspected properly and regularly cleaned and lubricated to assure a smooth and consistent movement. If some part seems defected or damaged don’t risk it, replace it.
The ball bearings, trolleys and track have been measured by a specialized test machine and company providing calculations to assure a high level of safety. These measurements must not be exceeded.
